Danylo Sikan secured a 1-0 victory for RSC Anderlecht against KV Kortrijk on Thursday. The Ukrainian striker scored just before halftime in the third league match of the season, according to highlights from YS Scores.
The match, played on September 3, 2026, marked Anderlecht's first home win of the campaign. Coach Brian Riemer was able to field his team without any new injuries, a positive sign for the weeks ahead. The full squad for Anderlecht is available online.
The goal came from a quick transition. After winning the ball in their own half, Anderlecht found Sikan free with a few passes. The striker fired home from the edge of the box, beyond the reach of goalkeeper Marko Ilic. It was his first league goal for the club since his arrival. This move highlights the importance of speed in transition, a style Riemer heavily emphasizes.
Kortrijk responded with more pressure after the break but failed to break down Anderlecht's solid defense. Thibault De Smet and Zeno Debast kept the backline well organized. The home side even had chances to extend the lead, with a shot from Anders Dreyer rebounding off the post.
With these three points, Anderlecht climbs the league standings. The exact position can be tracked on the live standings. The victory follows a draw against Club Brugge and a loss to Standard Liège in the first two matchdays. It provides the team with a much-needed confidence boost for the upcoming busy period.
The next task is an away match against Union SG on September 13. That fixture is always a highlight of the calendar. The complete schedule can be found on the fixtures page.
Danylo Sikan was the match-winner and demonstrated his finishing quality. His goal output will be essential to fulfilling the club's ambitions this season. Beyond his goal, his movement and pressing of the Kortrijk defenders were notable. He formed a dangerous partnership with the creative Dreyer.
According to the club's stats, Sikan has now scored two goals in all competitions this season. His presence gives Riemer more options up front, alongside the experienced Islam Slimani. The competition for a starting spot keeps everyone sharp.
Anderlecht ends the week with training on Friday before preparations begin for the clash with Union SG. The match against Kortrijk showed the team can win when not playing brilliantly. The next challenge awaits on September 13 at the Joseph Marien Stadium.
