RSC Anderlecht played out a goalless draw with KRC Genk in the Jupiler Pro League on Sunday. The match at Lotto Park on 6 September 2026 produced plenty of chances but no goals, failing to improve the Brussels club's position in the table.

Anderlecht currently sit eleventh in the Jupiler Pro League with seven points from five matches. The team has recorded two wins, one draw, and two losses, with a recent form of DWLLW. The Brussels side has scored three goals and conceded five this season, resulting in a negative goal difference of minus two. They trail league leaders Gent by eight points.

Coach Vítor Bruno made one change to his starting lineup from the previous match. Ilias Koutsoupias was handed a start in defence, replacing Enric Llansana. Jeppe Erenbjerg also began the game but was substituted in the 70th minute for Daan Heymans. Other changes followed in the second half: Rafiu Durosinmi made way for Aaron Bibout in the 69th minute, and Ibrahima Sory Bangoura was replaced by Benjamin Tahirovic in the 77th minute.

For Genk, Kevin Amaro made his first start of the season. The Limburgers held firm and prevented Anderlecht from finding the net. The full team lineup can be checked on our squad page.

The encounter was intense with plenty of battle and spells of good football. Both sides created dangerous moments, but the goalkeepers and defensive lines held strong.

Late in the game, two players were booked. Anderlecht's Yaimar Medina and Genk's Lucca Brughmans both saw yellow cards in the 87th minute. Oliver Antman was substituted five minutes earlier, in the 83rd minute. Joris Kayembe left the pitch in the 79th minute. The statistics from this and other matches are updated in our stats overview.

The point means Anderlecht maintains its position in the middle of the table. With seven points from five games, the club remains stuck in eleventh place. The gap to the top is significant, but the season is still young. The current standings show a tight mid-table where every point counts.

The direct competition for European spots remains close, but Anderlecht needs to find more consistency to climb. The defensive organisation was a positive point against Genk, but the team lacked sharpness in attack. The clean sheet was the first of the season for Vítor Bruno's team.

Anderlecht has little time to recover. The next league assignment is already on Friday, 11 September 2026. The team will travel to the AFAS-stadium for a match against KV Mechelen. Mechelen currently sits fifteenth in the table. All upcoming matches can be found in the fixtures calendar. A victory there is essential to get the campaign back on track.
