Anderlecht have a new coach for RSCA Futures. The club appointed 52-year-old Frenchman Karim Mokeddem on Tuesday evening to lead the reserve team.

The appointment comes at a critical time. RSCA Futures sit bottom of the Challenger Pro League after six matchdays with just one point, earned against Jong KAA Gent. The team has already conceded fifteen goals across those six games. Meanwhile, Anderlecht's first team are fifth in the Jupiler Pro League with thirteen points from seven games, with a full overview available in the standings.

Sporting director Antoine Sibierski explained the choice of Mokeddem. "A U23 coach has to meet a very specific profile." said Sibierski. He also highlighted the new trainer's qualities. "His high demands, eye for detail and professional attitude are assets for our Futures."

Mokeddem built his career in France, working his way up from amateur to professional football and serving as head coach at clubs like Lyon-Duchère and Orléans. He obtained his UEFA Pro License in 2019 and is known for an attacking football philosophy. His mission at Anderlecht is twofold: improve the Futures' results and funnel talents towards the first team.

Anderlecht's senior side are in a solid run of form with three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five league matches. Their next fixture is away to Cercle Brugge on 10 October, with the hosts currently 17th in the table. The full schedule can be found on our fixtures page. Developing young players remains a core pillar for the club, making Mokeddem's role particularly significant. The club trusts that his experience with individual development, as also reflected in detailed stats, will push the Futures forward. His contract length was not disclosed in the announcement.
