RSC Anderlecht has strengthened its defence with the signing of left-back Oleg Reabciuk. The 28-year-old Moldovan international signed a three-season contract and joins on a free transfer, the club announced this week.
The acquisition of Reabciuk follows the departure of Moussa N'Diaye, who had played for the club since 2022. N'Diaye was loaned to Schalke 04 last season and now moves to Werder Bremen, also on loan with an option to buy. Anderlecht currently sits 11th in the Jupiler Pro League with three points from three games and a goal difference of minus three. The next opportunity to score points is the home match against Kortrijk on September 3rd, a fixture against the current bottom-placed team.
Oleg Reabciuk brings European experience to Lotto Park. Anderlecht described the player as "an experienced left-back who spent a large part of his career in Portugal.". At the start of 2021, he moved to Olympiakos. "With the Greek top club he gained experience in both the Champions League and the Europa League and became champion twice." the club added. His arrival should improve defensive stability, especially after conceding five goals in the first three league matches.
Besides Moussa N'Diaye, Anderlecht has also said goodbye to Cedric Hatenboer. The 21-year-old Dutch midfielder returns to Sparta Rotterdam. Hatenboer was signed from Excelsior in January of the previous year and immediately loaned back. He signed a contract until 2029 at that time. Last summer he returned to Brussels, but he failed to break into the first team. He previously played for Sparta Rotterdam between 2013 and 2015 and again from 2018 to 2019, and came through the youth academies of Ajax and Feyenoord. Fans can follow the full squad on our squad page.
The transfer activity comes as Anderlecht experienced a mixed start to the campaign. With one win and two defeats, the team trails leaders Charleroi by nine points. The arrival of an experienced defender like Reabciuk should make the backline more solid. It is now up to the squad to improve results, starting with the match against Kortrijk. The current league table is available on our standings page. The new left-back is under contract with Anderlecht until the summer of 2029.
