César Huerta, who joined RSC Anderlecht from Liga MX for €2m 18 months ago, is back in transfer talks. According to Marca, negotiations between the two clubs have resumed, but Liga MX is balking at Anderlecht’s €6m asking price. Huerta, who has yet to secure a starting spot this season, did not travel to Kazakhstan for the Europa League qualifier against Kairat Almaty. Anderlecht currently sits 8th in the Jupiler Pro League with 3 points from 2 games (1W-0D-1L), trailing leaders Club Brugge KV by 3 points.
Huerta arrived at Anderlecht in 2025 for €2m, but his time in Belgium has been marred by injuries and limited playing time. This season, he has not featured in the starting lineup under manager Vitor Bruno and was left out of the first two league matches. Huerta, who was earlier replaced by Federico Vinas for €11.7m, now appears closer to an exit.
Marca reports that talks between Anderlecht and Liga MX have resumed. The Mexican league wants Huerta back but considers the €6m price tag too high. Liga MX hopes for a lower fee, but Anderlecht seems firm on their valuation. Huerta no longer fits into Bruno’s plans, further pushing the transfer forward.
If Huerta leaves, Anderlecht loses a player who never truly made an impact. With just two goals scored and two conceded in the first two games (0 goal difference), the focus must shift to the future. Their next match is at home against KV Mechelen on February 13, 2027, while they currently sit 8th in the Jupiler Pro League.
