Anderlecht is looking for a new coach after Jérémy Taravel's departure. Karel Geraerts was one of the candidates who was contacted for an exploratory conversation.

What happened?

Geraerts started two seasons ago as head coach at Union and later had a stint at Schalke 04. He failed to achieve promotion with Reims from the French Ligue 2 last season.

Why is this important for Anderlecht?

Anderlecht contacted Geraerts, but he never seemed to be more than a backup plan. Paars-wit now formally denies that he is on the shortlist. The preseason preparation starts on Monday with the first group training.
