RSC Anderlecht officially presented three new signings to the press and fans on Tuesday, September 2. The club welcomed defender Andrew Omobamidele and midfielders Romeo Amane and Thelo Aasgaard. The unveilings took place at Neerpede, just one day before the Belgian transfer window closed on September 3, 2026.

These reinforcements arrive as Anderlecht sit 11th in the Jupiler Pro League with three points from three games. The team has scored two goals and conceded five, for a goal difference of minus three. The next test is a home match against KRC Genk on September 6, a chance to improve a recent form of loss-loss-win.

Romeo Amane (23) signed a four-year contract with Anderlecht, with an option for an extra season. The defensive midfielder joins from Rapid Wien, for whom Anderlecht reportedly paid six million euros. Andrew Omobamidele (24) arrives on loan from French club RC Strasbourg. The Irish defender has already played 54 matches for Strasbourg and has Premier League experience with Norwich City and Nottingham Forest.

Thelo Aasgaard (23) is the third addition. The Norwegian international, currently at Rangers, impressed at the 2026 World Cup by scoring against France. He has nine caps and six goals for his country. Aasgaard is a product of the Liverpool and Wigan Athletic youth academies, made his senior debut in 2020, and moved from Wigan to Luton Town in January 2025 before Rangers paid 3.5 million euros for him. His market value is estimated at nearly three million euros.

With Aasgaard's arrival, Anderlecht halted their pursuit of a second midfielder, Ilias Koutsoupias from Frosinone. The Greek (25) was important for Frosinone last season with eight goals and four assists as they finished second in Serie B. Anderlecht is still working to finalise his signing, however. Within the squad, space was created by the mutual termination of Majeed Ashimeru's contract, which originally ran until summer 2027.

There were also developments around other players. Defender Wout Faes was offered for a loan deal to OH Leuven, with Leuven covering half of his wages. Meanwhile, midfielder Nicolas Raskin (25) is close to a transfer to Besiktas after Rangers withdrew from negotiations.

The final hours of the transfer period were busy at other clubs too. Cercle Brugge signed 23-year-old Brazilian Yago Lincoln from Londrina, on a contract until 2030. Lincoln previously played youth football for Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro. At Antwerp, 17-year-old Xander Dierckx extended his contract until June 2028, while Andreas Verstraeten (20) was loaned to VVV-Venlo with an option to buy.

KV Kortrijk strengthened with Jamie Roche (25) from FC Lausanne-Sport. Kortrijk's Sporting Director Nils Vanneste said: "Jamie is a player with a particularly interesting profile, whom we have been following for a long time." Club Brugge are about to sign 18-year-old Colombian Kevin Angulo from América de Cali, on a loan deal with a purchase option.

The new players are meant to help Anderlecht close the nine-point gap to leaders Charleroi. The first opportunity is the home game against Genk, who are seventh in the table. The coach and staff hope the fresh energy will improve defensive stability, especially with defender Lucas Hey currently sidelined.
