The double-header against Kazakh side Kairat Almaty determines which European competition Anderlecht will play in this season. Victory means direct entry to the Europa League group stage. Defeat leads to a place in the Conference League group stage. The club is therefore assured of European football, but the more prestigious Europa League is the target.
Anderlecht reached this round by eliminating Hammarby IF and PAOK FC earlier. Their current league form, with a mixed start (WL), demands more consistency. They trail leaders Club Brugge KV by six points. The coming weeks, with European ties and a derby against Union, are vital for the season's trajectory. Fans can follow the full schedule on our fixtures page.
The double confrontation with Kairat comes during a busy period. The squad must bounce back quickly from the loss to Union. The defence, which has conceded two goals so far, is under scrutiny. In attack, they need to convert more chances than the two goals scored to date.
The coach and players will focus on this European challenge in the coming days. A place in the Europa League group stage brings more prestige and financial resources. It's a significant step in the continued development of the project. For current squad information, you can visit the squad page. The next few days will define Anderlecht's European face this autumn.
