Anderlecht is looking at the departure of 21-year-old attacking midfielder Mario Stroeykens. The player failed to secure any playing time during the recent match against Hammarby under new coach Vitor Bruno, according to analyst Gilles De Bilde.

Despite having already played over 160 matches for the first team and being one of the more experienced players in the squad, Stroeykens is slipping down the pecking order. Bruno preferred recent signings like Lukas Ambros to start, and also gave opportunities to other youngsters, while Stroeykens sat out the entire match on the bench.

With the transfer window opening up and competition for midfield spots in Brussels expected to increase, his situation is becoming more precarious. The scenario of Stroeykens leaving the club this summer is gaining likelihood quickly.

Anderlecht is willing to cooperate in a transfer but still wants a reasonable fee for the player, who is contracted until mid-2028. So far, few foreign clubs have shown concrete interest.

Anderlecht's Plans

The club is considering various options, including a move to a club that can benefit from Stroeykens' experience. "We don't want him to be lost, but we also need to consider the club's management and future," explains club director Jan Ceulemans.

Future Plans

Stroeykens himself is looking for a new step in his career. "I want to keep playing, but I understand that I need to think about my future," he says. "If a good offer comes along, I will seriously consider it."
